Mirror, camera, monitor
Moving pictures in space
2000

Three industrial robots are situated in a triangle constellation in the middle of a hall. A pallet robot, an articulated robot and a console robot - each is mounted on a black column within the range of its neighbours. Monitor, camera and metallized sphere - each carries in its hand its individual tool which allows to catch or to represent the space.

The extreme movability of the robots allows them to catch the space with the camera from variable perspectives and to position the monitor image everywhere in the space. The sphere shows different spherical views of the space, the robots and the visitors depending on its location. The view of the camera in the sphere shows the spherical space in the monitor. The view of the camera on the monitor produces closed-circuit effects.

'home positions' is a commission for the industrial company KUKA-Roboter-GmbH Augsburg and was first presented on September 25, 2000 on the occasion of the annual in-house exhibition.
